The Child Welfare League of Canada is a membership based national organization dedicated to promoting the well-being and protection of vulnerable young people. It plays a significant role in promoting best practices among those in the field of child welfare, including child protective services, children's mental health and youth justice across Canada.
Kinark Child and Family Services is determined to establish a voice for children and youth with emotional, behavioural and social challenges by eliminating the stigma surrounding children's mental health. One in five children in Ontario struggle with their mental health.
As Ontario's largest accredited children's mental health agency, Kinark is proud to partner with the Child Welfare League of Canada and the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in the launch of www.speakingofkidsmentalhealth.ca as a communication and resource tool for youth, parents, educators and mental health professionals.
Kinark provides programs and services for children, youth and families in Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough, Simcoe and York regions. Kinark operates the Syl Apps Youth Treatment Centre in Oakville and the Kinark Outdoor Centre in Minden, Ont. In addition, Kinark is the provider of Central East Autism Program for Ontario.
